AAA is abnormal dilation of the Abdominal Aorta due to arterial wall weakness. People with AAA do not have any warning symptoms. More than 18,000 people die from ruptured AAA every year. The risk of death from ruptured AAA is 90% where the risk of death with elective repair of an AAA is only 5%. AAA diameter exceeding the normal limits are considered high risk and will need immediate medical attention.
